Kinky-Curly Curling Custard

What is the Product?

Kinky-Curly Curling Custard is a mixture that defines your curls while moisturizing them. It gives your curls shine, definition, and hold, all in one jar.

How to use the Product

This product is best used on dripping wet hair. You apply the custard and then separate your curls.

What does the Product Claim to do?

According to the Kinky-Curly website, the custard reduces bulk, and defines and elongates your curls, helping them to ‘hang’ better. It will bring out the natural curl or wave pattern you never knew you had.

It is an advanced botanical formula made with all natural ingredients that nourish and strengthen the hair. The humectant properties of the Agave Nectar allow the curling custard to give weight to your hair, define your curls, and remove frizz.

It provides long-lasting hold and shine without ever being greasy, crunchy or drying to the hair. This high-performance product is very concentrated, so a little goes a long way.

How did the Product Affect My Hair?

I absolutely love this product. It’s not cheap but it is well worth the splurge.

Once I have completed my wash and condition, I use the Kinky-Curly Knot Today as a leave-in conditioner. Then I part my hair and apply the custard to each section while shingling.

I typically do not wear my hair in wash and go’s and prefer braid outs. This custard leaves my hair soft and bouncy.

Pros and Cons of the Product

  • Pros: The product leaves my hair soft, manageable, bouncy, and well moisturized. I wouldn’t recommend using only this product for moisturizing because it doesn’t provide enough. However, you’ll be good to go for a few days by moisturizing with the L.O.C method beforehand. I also love the fresh, clean tropical scent of this product.
  • Cons:  The only con is that when I’m heavy handed with this product, it leaves white flakes in the hair that are impossible to get rid of. A little bit does go a long way, and you need to do trial and error to see what is the right amount for your hair.
